A little over a year ago I spotted this couch in a picture from my husband's aunt's resale shop. I knew it had potential! I was doing a lot of photography at the time plus I love vintage/Victorian looking furniture. So I bought it and got supplies to upcycle it. When tearing the fabric off I came to find that it had been redone once before. I do not know why they (whoever redid it before me) picked that gaudy fabric, but I knew I had to fix it. I wanted to make it very classic and romantic. So I painted the frame white. I used a specific type of spray paint that did not require to sand the wood before hand. But I can not remember what the brand was :( I did the first coat, let it dry and then did a second coat. After that was completely dried I used Turtle Wax (yes car wax) and a rag and wiped the wood down. Once that dried is when I started putting the fabric down. I used a red velvety material I got from Walmart and stapled it to the frame with a staple gun. I re-stuffed the cushion and back before finishing with the staple gun. Then I pushed new upholstery nails in the cushioned backs. This was before I finished the edges around the cushioned backs. But you can see how much of a difference the makeover did. This could have turned out better, but it was my
first diy upholstery/makeover ever. And I am pretty proud of how it turned out!
