On Friday I took the train to Chicago to visit one of my oldest and dearest girl friends. We first met in art class when I was in the tenth grade. After previously thinking one another hated each other, we soon realized we had a lot in common and hit it off instantly. Many nights were spent staying up late watching movies, trying on clothes, and talking about life. I fondly remember getting yelled at by her parent's to go to bed after being up so late. After the school year was over we spent a lot of the summer together before she went out of state for college and I had two more years of high school to go. Over the years we have not seen each other as much as we would like, so we decided to plan a girl's trip to Chicago because it's a good in-between place for us, travel wise. We met at Millennium Station and walked down Randolph st. to Macy's. We went to the restaurant on the 7th floor of the department store called The Walnut Room. It was cute and we had seats by the window which was perfect because the room had little lighting. The menu was limited and it took forever for the waiter to take our order. The first time he came by we said we needed a few minutes, and I am not normally one to complain because I understand what it's like to work in customer service. But we waited at least a half hour before he came back, and the place was not busy. I believe there were five other tables at the time and other waiters were also working. Other than that we enjoyed the restaurant. We ordered a hummus platter for an appetizer, and for my meal I got the Wisconsin Asiago crusted Chicken. It was an explosion of flavor, so so so yummy!
After we ate, we did not have much time as she had to head back home, so we browsed the store with what little time we had. I also had to catch my train and almost missed it! Luckily the station was just down the street from Macy's. Of course we had to take some photo's, I wish I had dressed more stylish. Isn't my friend so stylish?! I told her she looked so boho chic. I dressed more comfy casual because I knew it was cold and I did not have a lot of time to get ready before I headed out that morning. We browsed the handbag section and I ended up getting a cute little Michael Kors purse that was on clearance, SCORE! I have no shame in my savings game.
Over all, the day was spent well and we have decided that we need to take more time out of the year to get together.
